Welcome to the Blackwater Rugby Club's Website Home of the BASILISKS
The Basilisk was a mythical creature considered king of serpents & its name is derived from the Greek basiliskos, meaning "little king". There are a number of different legends & descriptions attributed to it. Born from a spherical, yolk-less egg, laid during the days of Sirus by a 7 year old rooster & hatched by a toad, it is represented as an animal with 3 or 4 sets of legs, the head of a rooster, tongue of a snake, wings of a fowl (or bat) & tail of a dragon. The basilisk, depending upon which legend you believe, poisoned everything it stared at, made the flesh fall from the bones of its victim with its sting or turned its victim to stone with a stare. These days the average Basilisk enjoys a good game of rugby & a coldie afterwards!
Home of the ROCKING COALERS
If you think you are too old to go around with the "young uns" but still have something to give then come & have a run with the Oldies. Be warned, we are serious: serious about having a good time; serious about having that "rock-in-the-chest" pre-game port; serious about having a good time; serious about our tin bin; serious about having a good time; serious about having a cold beer after the game (yeah right, before & during as well); serious about having a good time; serious about supporting our team & serious about having a good time. There's not too much more you need to know really!
